UNDAUNTED COURAGE
work: research, writing, typography, photography, book design
Assignment originated with a re-design and typographical study of a Civil War-era poster followed by the design and creation of type-centric artifacts in the style of mid-19th to late-19th century American typography.
The content of each artifact was written and chosen so that it was a piece documenting a moment in the life of a fictional person from the American West in the late 1800s. Each piece was printed, aged by hand, and photographed to be added to a book documenting the character's story. All food photography was taken expressly for the book.
